Open Meetings Act

The Alabama Open Meetings Act requires that nearly all public bodies in Alabama give adequate and timely notice of their meetings to the public, hold their meetings in public, and restrict their "executive sessions" to limited topics.

I am presently handling one appeal in an Open Meetings Act case and have written several briefs in such cases.

For more information on the Act, see the Alabama Open Meetings Act: A Manual for Alabama Public Officials, issued by the Attorney General. Note that the Manual states it is not the law.

If you need an attorney on an Open Meetings Act case, please contact me.
